Rev. Ruth J. Reiner, RN, MA
Ruth, is an ordained minister in the Interfaith tradition, having studied under the guidance of Rev. Diane Berke, now Director of “One Spirit” Interfaith Seminary, formerly Director of “The New Seminary” .
Raised in the Protestant tradition, as a teenager, Ruth attended mass and services in the synagogue with her Roman Catholic and Jewish friends, helping her to have a deep appreciation for the ways in which one experienced their Creator.
As a young graduate nurse, she developed the skill of being present when she was assigned to assist those patients with critical or life threatening illnesses. One of her most memorable experiences, at age 20, had a profound influence on her life. A patient was dying, and no one but he knew that this was so. The man asked her to hold his hand, to just be still, and in that moment, he slipped away from life as we know it.
A wife, mother, and now, active grandmother, Ruth brings to her practice years of life experience. In addition to her on-going studies, she is a Masters’ level swimmer, having been “Shanghai-ed” several years ago into competing in a national swimming event with a crash course in technique. She got hooked when she placed in an event. To celebrate a recent significant birthday, she completed a one mile open water swim in the waters adjoining Atlantic City, NJ.
Ruth has been a serial entrepreneur, and has known the under belly of failure in business as well as the sweetness of success. She recently retired from a very successful medically related business she founded 20 years ago.
During her tenure as a nurse, she practiced in oncology, hospice, and directed a hospice program. She developed and practiced in “end of life” programs.
As is the experience of many seekers, Ruth “followed her heart” and went off in search of the Divine in a myriad of spiritual paths across a broad spectrum of the “traditions”. This gave her an intimate association with, and a deep appreciation of, the richness that was inherent in each tradition.
Ruth is a certified spiritual counselor and life coach. Her expertise has been honed through her experiences with people challenged by life altering / threatening illness and trauma. She is intimately aware of the connection between the spiritual and the physical. Ruth brings a sense of humor, warmth, acceptance, and “centeredness” to her work.
A vision, which she shares with Patricia Selmo, her partner in “IAWSL”, is to empower women, who are spiritual leaders, to aspire to their highest calling, and to support them in manifesting their own visions…
